Olivier Giroud born 30 September 1986 is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Chelsea and the France national team.

He began his career at Grenoble in Ligue 2 before joining Tours in 2008. In his second season at Tours, he was the division’s top scorer with 21 goals, earning him a move to top-flight side Montpellier.

Giroud was again the top scorer with 21 goals in the 2011–12 season, giving the club their first ever Ligue 1 title before moving to Arsenal. Giroud won the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2014, 2015 and 2017, and totalled 105 goals in 253 games for the club. In January 2018, he transferred to Chelsea on an 18-month contract.

Chelsea striker and world cup winner, Olivier Giroud has suddenly fallen off the Blues main squad especially in the EPL.

This is because Chelsea new coach, Maurizio Sarri now sees Spain international, Alvaro Morata as the main cog to play the role of a center forward for the Blues.

The France international has run out of favor and enough playing chances owing to the fact that Morata has regained back his form and his confidence.

Of the two Blues center forwards, Maurizio Sarri now prefers Morata over Giroud as the Spain international is better in terms of scoring goals.

However, Olivier Giroud in a recent statement have made it known that he wouldn’t leave Stamford Bridge because of Alvaro Morata.

He made it known that the new competition in the Blues squad is for the good of the club.

Olivier Giroud also disclosed that he would remain at Stamford Bridge to fight for his spot.

He said, “I am going to fight and for the moment, it is not a question about seeking a departure.”

So far this season, Olivier Giroud has made 12 appearances for Chelsea including four starts in the EPL with only one goal to his name.
